Grand Theft Auto IV gets 18 certification from BBFC
It’s been a busy couple of weeks in the gaming industry. Last week we had the Byron Review and just before that the victory that was the classification of Manhunt 2.
Well it looks like this week is set to continue the trend of video game news with the BBFC granting Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA IV) an 18 cretificiate.
According to the BBFC website, Grand Theft Auto IV has got a substantial amount of sexual content. The board had the following posted on the website until it was removed (upon the request of RockStar) because it may contain spoilers.
"Sex references also occur during cut scenes, including references to strong sexual behaviour. During gameplay the character can pick up prostitutes". "What follows is an undetailed portrayal of masturbation, fellatio and intercourse. The character can also visit lap dancing clubs and request a private dance. While the game contains sexualised dancing and the portrayal of sex, there is no sexualised nudity."
Despite an 18 certification illustrating that this game is for adults’ eyes only, there’ll no doubt be the usual amount of rukus surrounding the game and how unsuitable it is for children.
