CES 2008: HD Radio strikes deal with Ford

by - source: Tom's Hardware UK

Las Vegas (NV) - Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles will come with factory-installed HD Radio equipment, thanks to a new partnership between the motor company and radio technology pioneer.

HD Radio announced the partnership at this week’s Consumer Electronics Show. Although high-def radio receivers are currently offered as an extra option, this will be the first time they are included as a standard feature in Ford vehicles.

HD Radio, which is available to 80% of the country, boosts sound quality, clarity, and channel availability. In fact, more than one broadcast can be delivered on the same channel.

The new deal will come into effect in 2009.
