Leak Reveals Toshiba's Tegra 2, Android 2.2 Tablet

Details of Toshiba's tablet offering have been leaked, revealing an Android tablet running Tegra 2.

We hear a lot about plans for tablets from various different companies, but it's rare we hear anything solid. Samsung is set to officially reveal its Galaxy Tab on September 2, but it seems the company has been upstaged by a leak relating to Toshiba's Android tablet.

The folks over at NotebookItalia did a little bit of investigating and managed to come up with the name for the device: The Folio 100. Aside from a name, we also know that the device will run Android 2.2 on Nvidia's Tegra 2 chipset, as well as a handful of other specifications.

NotebookItalia says Toshiba has this device characterised as a 'smartpad,' which we guess makes sense in that it's essentially a smartphone in tablet form. The Folio 100 will pack a 10.1-inch, 1024 x 600, multitouch display; Tegra 2; 16 GB of internal memory, with up to 32 GB via SD storage; HDMI, USB 2.0 standard, USB 2.0 and mini audio jack; up to seven hours of battery with mixed use (web and media playback); a 1.3-megapixel camera; and of course, Android 2.2, aka 'Froyo'. The whole thing weighs in at 760g, or 1.67 pounds.

No word on price or launch, unfortunately. Hopefully Samsung can give us a solid price and date for its Galaxy Tab on Thursday so we can finally look forward to getting an Android tablet on the market.
