O2 Now Telling Customers If They're Too Fat Or Not
Mobile Phone provider, O2 has developed a new fitness assessment service for its customers to use via their phones.
The new new mobile-based health and fitness assessment aid was developed by Dr. Conor O’Brien, Ireland’s leading academic and consultant in sport and exercise medicine. It uses GPS to track the time and distance covered by the people during exercise and then it sends your data by SMS to the fitfone website to be analysed. The Fitfone system also builds a database of your details that lets you keep track of your exercise regime on a regular basis.
For the O2 customers who are exercising to lose weight, the Fitfone can tell you how much calories you’re burning during you exercise sessions allowing you to keep track. Fitfone’s resting metabolic rate calculator estimates what your calorie intake would need to be to maintain your current weight. From its results, you can work out how many calories you need to cut back on each day to shed the pounds.
O2 are currently testing the Fitfone application on 200 customers who have been supplied with Nokia 6110 Navigator phones which have a built in GPS system to allow them to easily record the details and submit them to the site to be analysed.
