Android Film Rentals Hits UK Users
You might not be itching to watch full-length movies on your Android smartphone or tablet, but it's nice to have the option, right?
Just last week Google gave us access to its YouTube rental service and now it looks like the company has brought us another option for renting movies on the go. Wired UK reports that UK-based Android users now have access to the movie rentals portion of the Android Marketplace.
Launched at Google I/O this past May, movie rentals through Android have been available in the U.S. for some time and are subject to the same restrictions as the YouTube rentals. This means you have 30 days to watch the movie and 24 hours to finish it once you hit play. Handily enough, you can also download the full movie for enjoyment in places without web connections (trains, planes and automobiles would be our choice). However, the time limits still apply in off-line viewing.
Price-wise, you're looking at between £2.49 and £3.49 depending on the title. Obviously, the older the movie is, the cheaper it will be to rent. New releases such as Green Lantern and Fast Five are in the £3.49 range. To rent any of these glorious titles you'll need to snag the Android Videos application from the Android Marketplace.
