Facebook is translated into Spanish
Ah and we thought we might not squeeze a Facebook story out this week. We were getting rather worried we might have to wait until next week before we could bring you your regular dose of Facebook news.
Well, here it is ; Facebook has, for the first time, been translated into another language with the aim of being available in several languages in the near future.
Obviously the fact that 60 percent of Facebookers are from outside the United States means that not all users are native English speakers. With this in mind (along with the fact that MySpace is already available in other languages), the Faces over in Facebook created an application, which allows users to help translate Facebook into their local languages and dialects.
The application was launched in Spain and almost 1,500 Spanish speakers on the social networking site helped translate the site. As of Monday, residents of Spanish-speaking countries will automatically be shown the translated, Spanish version.
Happy days, eh ?
Facebook are rumoured to be rolling out French and German versions soon enough.
A Face was not available for comment at the time of going to print. Shame.
