Dutch safe sex training site sees huge success
A Dutch site aimed at educating young people on safe sex and STIs has seen a significant amount of success since it’s launch last Wednesday.
The site features short instructional videos (don’t get too excited, they’re not what you think). In the name of research, we took a look at the website to see what was all the fuss was about.
Disappointingly, it was all in Dutch and there was no English option. Having said that, words like condom and HIV were easy to make out.
We found we could only sit through so much of the videos before they became quite boring. Although, there is a rather amusing one of a barmaid. We don’t know what she’s saying, however, given the nature of the website, we figure it has something to do with safe sex. Educated guess, you know ?
The site (www.vrijlekker.nl for anyone interested) was launched last Wednesday and was set up by the Amsterdam health authorities to combat the rise in sexually transmitted diseases in young people aged 16 to 24.
A spokesperson for the Authority authorities told the ANP news agency that while they expected the site would be popular, they never expected to have so many hits in such a short space of time.
We’re not sure, but we think that it could be because the site has “instructional videos”. Have a look for yourself. That link again is www.vrijlekker.nl.
