Duke Nukem Shows Up, on Facebook
New screenshots for Duke Nukem Forever have appeared on Facebook.
In an effort to keep the dream alive, Scott Miller of 3D Realms has created a Duke Nukem Facebook page here (RealDukenukem). Unfortunately, the page doesn't really have anything to offer outside a new set of screenshots uploaded just last night (outside a few old ones). It's unknown whether this new batch stems from the continued development, or remnants from the previous batch released after the termination of the Duke Nukem Forever development team. Nevertheless, they're a good indication that Duke Nukem Forever won't go away anytime soon.
As for other Duke Nukem titles, it was recently announced that Duke Nukem 3D was ported in its entirety over to the iPhone, and is expected to hit the App Store soon. The Duke Nukem Trilogy is also expected to see a release soon, this summer according to Apogee Software, bringing three episodes to the PSP and Nintendo DS: Critical Mass, Chain Reaction, and Proving Grounds. Another Duke Nukem title, "Duke Begins," was supposedly in development at a "well-known studio," however Take-Two halted its development back in April.
Despite all the legal hoopla with Take-Two Interactive, the 3D Realms website still lists Duke Nukem Forever under its Games (in development)" section. The company previously said that it is continuing its work on the game, as it has for almost twelve years. Granted the new shots offer a glimmer of hope to those of us waiting for the game for over a decade, it stands to question--despite all the technical jargon--why the competitors have managed to create sequel upon sequel (Quake, Doom, Unreal, etc), and 3D Realms is still working on one game. One. Game.
