Report: Dell Launching OPhone in China This Week
More reports today detailing a Dell smartphone suggest that the device could be released in the middle of this month, a period that is line with previous rumors that say the company is launching a phone this week.
TechCrunch this morning cites Chinese news portal 163.com as saying Dell will release an Android-powered “Ophone” called the mini3i on the nation's biggest carrier, China Mobile. However, the Ophone is not just Dell. The carrier is said to be developing "Ophone" as a brand and 163.com says other companies, like Lenovo, will also be releasing phones under the brand.
Those of you eager to get your hands on Dell's new piece of hardware will have to wait. The report goes on to say that all Ophones will support TD-SCDMA (Time Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access). In other words, China-only.
Do you think Dell will ever release a smartphone here in the U.S.? Let us know in the comments below.
