UK loses two more discs of data. . .
Remember those two discs that got lost, along with all that data ? Yeah, we do too. So perhaps you too were surprised to hear that the Driver and Vehicle Agency in Northern Ireland just lost the details of 6,000 people. The details, scarily enough, were also on two discs.
Understandably, people are fairly concerned about the loss of two discs of data, especially when they learned that the data wasn’t encrypted. The discs were part of safety recall by a number of manufacturers. Information stored about vehicle owners included owner’s name, address, registration mark of the vehicle, chassis number, make and colour.
We’d tell you there’s no need for concern but really, if someone has your name, address and knows how fancy your car is . . .Well, we won’t insult you by spelling it out but car. Burglar. Gone.
