Crytek threatens to leave Germany
Crytek, the developer behind Far Cry and Crysis, just announced via an interview with one of the founders, Avni Yerli, that they were not ignoring the possibility of having to delocalise their HQ out of Germany. The reason for this threat ? The interior ministry’s (IMK) declaration considering the ban of violent titles from the international market.
The interview declared, without bitterness, that Budapest is a very beautiful city in which Crytek already possesses a branch. They also pointed out that certain countries (such as England, Scotland, Austria and Singapore) had already scanned the terrain for a potential arrival to their country. If the German government’s proposition ends up being applied, then it is likely that Crytek would undertake one of the biggest delocalization of the history of video gaming.
