Britain experiences Wii shortages for the second Christmas running
Usually when a console is released near Christmas you can count on there being a shortage of them for the holiday period. However, we didn’t expect for there to still be a shortage of Nintendo Wii’s a year later.
Nintendo’s latest console, a year after it’s release, is still in high demand with retailers complaining that they’re finding it hard to keep up with the demand as the console has been in short supply for the last few months.
In an effort to ensure there are Wii’s all round this Christmas, the manufacturer is shipping an additional 3.5 million consoles worldwide although it’s not yet clear how many of the extra consoles will go to UK and Irish stores.
Nintendo has been a fast seller all year round and both retailers and Nintendo have expressed the same fear of Christmas demand outstripping supplies.
The shortages are set to last until well into the new year and until then we say try Amazon or eBay because the chances of finding a Wii in stores this Christmas will be tight. Sorry, folks.
