Carphone Warehouse Announces New Tethering Deals
Carphone Warehouse has announced a few new tablet and smartphone bundles in an effort to promote tethering.
With smartphones now so popular, the new and emerging gadget for the masses is tablets. However, with folks already faced with trying to find the best data plan for their phone, many people aren't too jazzed about signing a second contract just for their tablet. To that end, Carphone Warehouse has announced three new smartphone/tablet bundles that allows users to get both devices on a single bill.
These new 'tethering deals' are an attempt to educate users on the joys of tethering their tablet to their smartphone. According to Carphone Warehouse, less than one in ten (9%) tablet owners are tethering. Less than one in four people planning to get a tablet intend to tether with their phone. The retailer also said that Android owners are twice as likely to tether as iPad owners, with the former measuring in at one in seven or 14% and the latter at one in 15 or 6%.
The three new deals are offering customers the chance to pick up Samsung Galaxy Tab and Samsung Galaxy Apollo for free from £31 per month, the BlackBerry Playbook and BlackBerry Curve 9300 for free from £36 per month, or the HTC Wildfire S and Archos 101 for free from £31 per month. Not exactly bleeding edge choices all around, but it's a decent start.
"Considering 39% of tablet users think that 3G connection is too expensive and opt for a WiFi only device and a further 14% of tablet users find the tariffs too complicated, tethering could be the perfect solution," Carphone Warehouse said in a statement. "It is possible for smartphones users to make tethering as their primary means of accessing the internet. Tablet and smartphone users can completely eliminate a separate bill for internet service as their homes with tethering. Over time this could help you save money and simplify the billing process for you."

If they want us to tether our tablets to our phones they should not try and charge us to do so. We pay for the data, there is no reason why we should pay for that data twice. Which is why most people will only tend to go onlione with there tablets useing Wi-Fi.
