Carphone Warehouse Gets the Optimus 3D
It's here!
If you were crossing your fingers that your Carphone Warehouse would be one of the 20 locations to get the Optimus 3D early, you'll be glad to know that that doesn't matter anymore -- the retailer's online store is also selling the device early.
Last week word arrived that the LG Optimus 3D smartphone, not due in stores until July 8, would be arriving at 20 Carphone Warehouse stores and four Best Buy locations on Friday, July 1. However, it seems online shoppers also have the opportunity to purchase the phone a week early. Priced at £500 SIM-free, those willing to sign a contract can get the device for free on a £35-per-month contract (on O2, Orange, T-Mobile, and Vodafone). The phone is expected to be available at Carphone Warehouse locations throughout the country by Wednesday.
Running Android 2.2, the Optimus 3D was first shown off at Mobile World Congress in February of this year. It features a dual-core 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor; a 4.3-inch, 480x800, 3D-capable touchscreen display; dual 5-megapixel cameras; 8GB of storage (expandable to 32GB); 512MB of RAM; 2D video capture (1080p@24fps) and 3D video capture (720p@30fps); MicroUSB; Bluetooth 3.0; WiFi and GPS.
