CES 2010: VIDEO of MSI Dualscreen UMPCs in Action
MSI enters the keyboard-less UMPC space with two Windows 7 touchscreen devices.
If you're looking for something closer to the Microsoft Courier than the HP Slate PC, then MSI might have an answer for you.
MSI is showing off not one, but two Courier-like folding UMPCs. The smaller of the two uses a pair of 7-inch resistive touchscreens, while the larger uses ten-inch screens. Both fold close, much like the Courier, and both run Windows 7 Starter.
Both devices were using some form of older Intel Atom/Menlow hardware, but I was told this will not be the case if and when the devices launch later this year (think Pine Trail or even low-end ULV). Also, expect 2 GB of DDR2 memory.
In the video, the MSI rep is using the 10-inch UMPC. We then focus in on the smaller 7-inch model, but you can still see the 10-inch being used in the corner. Click through the video to watch it in HD.
While 3D is dominating the headlines, it seems like the new slate/keyboard-less UMPC market is really starting to heat up.
