Commodore C64 Returns With Atom, Ion 2
Commodore is resurrecting its classic AIO computer, the C64.
Wednesday Commodore USA announced that it will revive its ancient-yet-classic Commodore 64 all-in-one keyboard computer for the holiday season. The compact rig won't receive any visual improvements whatsoever, but will instead retain the original beige, blocky design seen back in the 1980s. Commodore said that the release is in response to an overwhelming demand from former Commodore users.
According to the company, the new Commodore PC64 will include an Intel Atom 525 CPU with NVIDIA Ion2 graphics, 4GB of DDR3 memory, and a 1TB HDD. The AIO will also provide HDMI, a DVD/CD optical drive (Blu-ray optional), dual-link DVI, six USB ports, integrated 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth and a 6-in-1 media card reader--definitely a far cry from the original 8-bit model.
"We are ecstatic to be partnering with Commodore Licensing B.V. in this new, exciting product launch," said Barry Altman, President and CEO of Commodore USA, LLC. "The legacy of the Commodore C64, which sold over 30 million units, making it the best selling computer of all time, and our reintroduction of this legendary form factor, combined with the world's most recognizable consumer electronics brand, is a once in a lifetime opportunity. We look forward to bringing these new products to market, and welcoming a whole new generation of computer users to the Commodore experience."
Currently the price is unknown, however other AIO keyboard systems provided by Commodore range from $475 to $1295 USD.

10 print "W00t!"

So this is basiscally a net top in a nostalgic case? No thanks, computer users tend to be too pragmatic to buy that I guess...
I just want a new C64 mobo for my old cases .... :-(
Or simply a new 8bit EXACTLY LIKE the old C64 !! With non aged electronics .. Is that TOO MUCH TO ASK ?? I bet there are more nuts like me out there ... If it had a built in 1541 ultimate2 device with SDcard reader and network that would be awesome ! 6581 SID and VIC exactly the same as in the old breadbox , thats what I want ! It cant cost that much to slap together this stuff nowadays ?? An EMULATOR IS NOT THE SAME THING !!! No matter .. Custom hardware with personality. Thank you very much ! China ! Are you listening ? An exact duplicate of C64 internals and externals pleeeeeeease !! 50 bucks should be enough ?? Retro heaven ! And ofcourse the sd cardslot and cartridge emulator. And a reset button. And network ! And maybe a REU ram expansion !
