British Airways plant crash lands on runway

A British Airways flight has crash-landed in Heathrow Airport.

The plane was originally scheduled to land on Heathrow’s South Runway but landed several hundred yards short of it and careered the rest of the way.

Witness say that the plane’s undercarriage came down and then the plane dropped suddenly. It is still unclear as to what went wrong. Passengers on board the plane have said that there was no panic or emergency announced as everything had gone smoothly up until that point.

All of the airport’s emergency services were at the scene and the 136 passengers and 16 crewmembers on board the Boeing 777 used the inflatable chutes to disembark.

All flights into and out of the Airport have suffered delays including Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s flight to China. Mr Brown’s flight took off at about 2:30pm.

6 people have suffered minor injuries and are being treated in hospital.
