Blu-ray makes up ground with sub $100 player
For the first time, a standalone Blu-ray Disc player is now widely available for a price that’s $100 less than the Playstation 3.
Samsung’s BD-P1400 went on sale at Best Buy and Circuit City this week for around $300, making it the least expensive BD player to date. Amazon.com is also selling the device at the same price.
Although HD DVD has always held the price advantage over Blu-ray, it has failed to capture the majority of the high-def video market share. Toshiba’s HD-A2 HD DVD player has already been spotted at Best Buy and Wal-Mart for just under $100.
However, the HD-A3 only allows playback of up to 1080i resolution. The Samsung Blu-ray player supports "full HD", or 1080p, which means it has a swifter refresh rate.
The Playstation 3 remains by far the top-selling device with HD disc playback, though. The current low-end version of the PS3 is set at around $400.

umm... spot the deliberate mistake?
The title reads "sub $100", yet in reality, it's "$100 cheaper than a PS3". Only the HD-DVD player is sub $100 (in Wal-Mart and BestBuy).
Is it just me or do THG seem to be having some editorial problems recently??
Come on guys get your sh** together!!
