Blizzard Celebrates 7 Years of WoW With Gifts
It's a birthday party and you're invited if you've paid $14.95 at the door.
Still sporting its front teeth but clearly riding without training wheels, Blizzard's monster MMORPG World of Warcraft officially turns 7-years-old on Wednesday, November 23.
"It’s been a truly incredible seven years, and we’d like to thank you all for joining us for yet another fantastic year," Blizzard said on Friday.
To celebrate this event with the community, Blizzard will hand out a "Feat of Strength" and a celebration package item to any player who logs in between Sunday, November 20 and Saturday, December 3. Blizzard said that the package item will shoot off fireworks and temporarily grant both a special tabard and a 7-percent experience point and reputation bonus. So far there doesn't seem to be any plans for birthday balloons, goblin clowns or "special cupcakes."
On Friday Blizzard also noted that an all-new World of Warcraft television commercial will debut on CBS during the Chargers-Bears NFL game (kickoff time: 1:15 p.m. PST/4:15 p.m. EST) this Sunday, November 20. The ad is set to air sometime during the first half.
"And when the star of this spot asks, 'what’s your game?' you’d best have an answer ready," Blizzard taunted.
Say "Rift." We dare you.
