Understanding Torrent Websites
On the Web
There are two options for finding torrent files on the net. We can’t simply list them here, because the legality of disseminating addresses like that is dubious at best. Instead visit forums or talk to friends, but remember 99% of the contents that are exchanged and available to download are somehow illegal.
You can find a mixture of TV series (many that aren’t aired in some countries), films, or even complete discographies made available in a single download. However, we can also find many open source distros and applications and in this case the transfer through BitTorrent turns out to be much faster than with any other network to download important files.
Understanding Torrent Websites
On the home page of a torrent site, there are usually two ways of searching for a torrent; look up the most recent files uploaded, category by category or by typing keywords. This second option is obviously the most practical way to rapidly find what one is looking for.
If the number of results is important, you can look for a particular category: music, film, series, books, photos, etc. There really is some of everything! Note that you can sort the results by share ratio.
The general information tells you the number of seeds and leechers, the size of the file to download, how long it has been available for, as well as the link to download the torrent.
In the “Details” section, you can find a list of the files that the file you are going to download contains. Then you can usually post “Comments” and/or “Report a problem” concerning the torrent. Reading these comments can sometimes help to avoid downloading unwanted or corrupt files.
