Fast and Frugal - Downloading Torrents without a PC

Fibrionics F-Share BitTorrent

Until now, a PC was required to exchange or share files over a P2P network such as BitTorrent. Naturally, this also meant that the PC had to be running, which in turn meant it was consuming power. Depending on how the PC in question is equipped, this can easily result in energy costs of €20 per month if it is left on around the clock. Now, however, that is no longer your only choice. If you frequently download content via BitTorrent, Fibrionic’s F-Share download client may help you reduce your energy bill. Especially such software packages which aren’t easily available as a direct download are often more quickly downloaded using a P2P network. If your first thought is of pirated content, think again. There are many legal applications for P2P networks, and many companies have even begun to rely on this infrastructure to distribute their content. Some such examples include software packages such as Linux distributions or media content like HD-movie trailers and copyright-free music.

To put it simply, the download box as a BitTorrent client. You can assign the F-Share links to torrents using a web browser which it will then download independently of any PC. Since the F-Share does not possess any integrated storage devices such as a hard drive, some form of storage has to be added using USB. Both external hard drives and USB thumb drivers are supported.
