VIDEO: Bethesda Previews Skyrim Creation Kit
The Creation Kit for Skyrim is coming soon, states Bethesda. In the meantime, here's a little tease.
So you have your copy of Bethesda's hot RPG The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, and you're just itching to create some new content. Well guess what: the Creation Kit isn't quite out yet. Instead, Bethesda wants to tease fans by providing a glimpse into the Skyrim editor via a YouTube demo.
"With the Creation Kit’s upcoming release, we have just posted a new developer diary by Production Director, Ashley Cheng as well as a video highlighting some of the new features that will be made available to our modding community through the Skyrim Workshop on Steam," Bethesda states. "The Skyrim Workshop will allow users to easily upload, download, and install their mods, making sharing custom content easier than ever before."
According to the Skyrim team, the Creation Kit features the same toolset used to create Skyrim's virtual environment. However, it also includes lots of new features such as the ability to build archives. The kit will be free to download via Valve's digital distribution platform. Modders are encouraged to check out the Creation Kit Wikki for more details.
"With Skyrim Workshop, you can browse and search for the latest or highest rated mods, subscribe to any that interest you, rate your favorites and post feedback,"Bethesda states. "Once you've subscribed to some mods, start the Skyrim launcher and you'll see your subscribed mods automatically download. The launcher will even check if a mod has been updated and grab the latest version."
Both the Creation Kit and Skyrim Workshop are "coming soon." Stay tuned to http://elderscrolls.com/community for more details. In the meantime, here's the teaser:
