On the Cheap: Best Buy to Sell $249 Laptop
Best Buy will today launch its "lowest-advertised-price laptop ever," ringing in at just $249.
The dawn of netbooks have meant getting your hands on a cheap-as-chips computer is easier than ever. Granted, they might be a little on the dainty side, but for $300, who's complaining?
Oh, you're complaining? Well, perhaps you'd like to pick up Best Buy's $249 laptop that the company is launching today as part of "a dynamic holiday computing selection." The exact model is not yet known but we do know it's an Acer machine powered by an Intel Celeron 900 CPU with 2GB of memory, and a 160GB hard drive. Not great but definitely not bad for a laptop that clocks in at under two hundred and fifty bucks.
We'll keep you updated on the exact model when we hear more.

No offence, but some rather invest in a used Laptop which is powered by stronger hardware and of course with the same price. In this model the RAM and HDD space is quite good, but with a Celeron CPU... I doubt that it will be able to handle some web applications especially java, flash etc in 1 or 2 years time.
On the other hand they are not exactly energy efficient.
Though, general users might go for it. However, those who would like more from a Laptop will go for more.
An excellent choice for a budget laptop, especially for students.
Yeah - absolutely... but that's how the market works... You pay from $xxx to $yyy or even $zzz - for $xxx - you get shit, for $yyy - you get good PC, for $zzz - you get the same as you would for something in between $xxx and $yyy but nicely packaged, underclocked, expensive to upgrade and so on... you know what I am talking about - right?
