Bad Company 2 PC Supports Eyefinity, 3D Vision

by - source: Tom's Hardware US

The PC version of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will support 3D Vision and Eyefinity.

The official Battlefield Blog offers a few additional details about the graphics in Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for the PC. Posted by Johan Andrerson from DICE, the blog states that the game's Frostbite 1.5 engine was designed for DirectX 10 as a base, however the game will support both DirectX 9 (for those XP gamers still hanging on to the old OS) and DirectX 11.

"For everyone with the new generation of graphics card, like the AMD Radeon 5xxx series or the upcoming Nvidia Geforce 4xx, we've also added support for DirectX 11," he said "The primary uses of DX11 in Bad Company 2 is to soften all the dynamic shadows as well as to improve performance in general with a few smaller DX11 optimizations that we are using."

Anderson also said that Bad Company 2 will support up to six monitors using AMD's Eyefinity rendering mode. For Nvidia lovers, the game will support 3D Vision stereo rendering, however this will be done via a patch after the game goes retail. "We are also looking forward to trying out the upcoming multi-monitor stereo rendering: 3D Vision Surround," he added. "Expect to see & hear more about both 3D Vision and 3D Vision Surround in Bad Company 2 after the beta!"

Other bells and whistles in Bad Company 2 includes Horizon-based Ambient Occlusion for DirectX 10 and DirectX 11 cards, Field of View, highly detailed textures, and support for multiple GPUs.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is expected to go retail on March 2, 2010.

Good to hear some companies like to treat you no matter what company's products you use (Arkham Asylum, I'm looking at you here...)

Nice one. You see this is how you reduce the number of PC gamers from torrenting, actually put effort into the product, console gamers get plenty, why should we be any different? The fact we do have a 'free' alternative should really encourage all companies to create a game and provide a good service that we feel valued for. As long as there is no overkill on DRM, it looks like they can expect plenty of legal sales here.

Now that is what I like to see. A PC game done right. Probably won't use those features as I'm running a HD4890, but it's nice to know they are there just in case. Definitely buying it.
