Dublin Firm Pays BSkyB 40,000 Euro in Damages
Earlier in the year, BSkyB had taken high-court action against the Dublin based Aertec firm for allegedly distributing Sky viewing cards to hotels around the country.
BSkyB Ltd and British Sky Broadcasting Group plc had brought their proceedings against Satellite and Television Services Ltd, trading as Aertec, who have registered offices in Lucan, Co Dublin.
Aertec allegedly infringed Sky’s copyright by installing a Satellite Master Antennae TV System for the distribution of TV channels in several hotels.
Yesterday the High court heard that the case had been settled. Aertec resolved to never infringe Sky copyrights again and also pay BSkyB damages of €40,000.
A spokesperson for Sky said that they are continuously working with ntl to combat the illegal distributing of channels throughout the country and that the Hotels involved had co-operated with Sky officials during the case.
