[CeBIT 2008] - New Coolers from ASUS

by - source: Tom's Hardware UK

ASUS has brought two new coolers to CeBIT 2008. The Triton 79 was developed specifically for quiet PCs, while the Lion Square targets the overclocking community.

ASUS' Lion Square cooler

The Lion Square weighs 730 grams and consists almost entirely of copper. Its cooling fins are made of aluminium and the cooler used four 8-millimeter heatpipes to transport the heat from the processor socket to the cooler. The cooler itself measures 126 x 126 x 144 mm (W/L/H) and sports a fan spinning at 2.300 rpm. The Lion Square can be used with any Intel Socket 775 CPU and also comes with mounting options for AMD’s AM2, AM2+, 940, and 939 sockets.

The Triton 79 was developed for quiet systems

The Triton 79 was developed with low operating noise in mind, which is why it is not cleared for use with AMD’s Phenom or Intel’s Core 2 Extreme processors. It can handle all other socket 775 and Socket AM2/AM2+/940/939 CPUs, though. It, too, is made of copper and sports aluminium cooling fins, and also uses four heatpipes, like the Lion Square. Airflow is provided by a quiet 120mm fan spinning at 800 - 1300 rpm. The cooler is 126 mm long, 114 mm wide and 145 mm high and weighs 670 g.
