Apple offers rebate, apologizes to iPhone buyers
Cupertino (CA) – Apple’s Steve Jobs has written a public letter to upset iPhone owners and he is now offering a $100 store credit to people who bought iPhones more than 14 days ago. Jobs drastically cut the price of the 8 GB iPhone yesterday from $599 to $399. As you can expect, early adopters – many who stood in line for hours – were livid about a 33% price drop in the span of just two months.
Jobs said he has read every single email from the “hundreds” of upset iPhone customers. He adds that Apple is making the correct decision in lowering the price and that “now is the right time to do it”.
Of course the fact of life is that new technology is always available and prices almost always head lower. “If you always wait for the next price cut or to buy the new improved model, you’ll never buy any technology product because there is always something better and less expensive on the horizon,” said Jobs.
Apple is offering anyone who purchased an iPhone within the last 14 days a rebate of the difference, but earlier buyers will have to settle for the $100 credit. Jobs said details are still being finalized and more information will be posted on the Apple website next week.
