Apple Mocks Microsoft's Laptop Hunters Series

by - source: Tom's Hardware US

Hot on the heels of Microsoft’s Zune Pass versus iTunes commercial, are the new Get a Mac ads, which take a swipe at Microsoft’s Laptop Hunters series as well as customer support for PCs.

Apple has released three new commercials (which are available on its website here) and the most notable is the Laptop Hunters spoof where a Lauren-a-like is looking for a laptop with a big screen and a decent processor. PC orders the slow and small PCs (played by men in similarly drab suits) to leave and it looks like “Meagan” is finally whittling the group down to something that will work for her. That is, until she says she wants something that doesn’t crash all the time, doesn’t get viruses and cause a bunch of headaches in general. Shocker, everyone leaves bar Justin Long.

The other two ads play on the fact that Apple stores have Geniuses as well as the fact that PC’s get more viruses. Check out the ads on YouTube and let us know what you think.

Idiots. Both of them.

I'm surprised Microsoft haven't just gone the whole hog and just opened up a MacBook, showed the Intel-branded CPU inside and popped up a cartoon speech bubble from it saying "I'm a PC".

That would be very, very cool.

I guess Apple doesnt keep up with the latest news...

Quote :"Charlie Miller has done it again. For the second consecutive year, the security researcher hacked into a fully patched MacBook computer by exploiting a security vulnerability in Apple’s Safari browser.

The 3 main points highlighted in apples adverts about windows also happens to OSX!
OSX crashes just like Windows does, both OSX and Windows get viruses and if I went from a Windows PC to a Mac, I have the headache of buying all my software again but the OSX version!
I want to see LePhuronns advert, that would be mint! Lol, email Steve Ballmer that one, we all want to see it!

Bunching PC tech care under one umbrella is ridiculous.

Most people who have issues with their PC know a friend who they can go to who will fix their PC for either free, low price and will ensure to replace all parts with OEM parts if necessary. I live in a building of 50, and nobody goes more than a week without a working PC. And, nobody pays more than OEM price when working with me.

The only person with a Mac here won't let me help him with it, since I'm a "PC user", yet he pays hundreds of pounds for help from "Genius"s. While the rest of the people here, well, if their PC dies, it's usually back on within minutes, sometimes seconds, yet he has to go about 40 miles to the nearest Mac store to get help.

I know who is winning where I live.

Mac's are like Crack... get started with one and you are hooked. Now thats fair enough, you want to use a Mac, so be it! But then it goes on to far... and Mac users try to sway P.c users to their dark side. LEAVE THE PC USERS ALONE!

@Clintonio:

The perfect example of the common Mac user - dumb and arrogant. But leave him be - he obviously has the cash to burn getting a Mac in the first place so he can afford to pay for Genius support every time he gets a -34 error.

I reckon we should finally start writing viruses for Macs... just so they would understand that "less" viruses does not mean "no" viruses....

Mac users don't know about economics, otherwise they wouldn't have bought a mac. That's why they jeer about having no viruses when anyone with sense could see that THERE'S NO POINT WRITING MALWARE FOR 9% OF THE MARKET.

Purely for the crack of it I've e-mailed this to Steve Ballmer's catch-all address. If in teh infinitesimal event that this does happen, remember you read it here first!
