Samsung Files Suit Against Apple in the UK
Samsung filing suit against Apple for patent infringement is a tune we've heard before, but this time it's playing on a different station.
Bloomberg reports that Samsung Wednesday filed suit against Apple in London's High Court in London. The suit joins similar legal proceedings in the United States, Korea, Japan and Germany. The legal battle stems from a suit Apple filed against Samsung in April alleging that the company copied the iPhone and iPad for its Galaxy products (including the Galaxy S, pictured).
Samsung's London lawsuit is another in a long line of counter-filings that claim Apple's iPhone and iPad infringe on several Samsung patents. Samsung has also filed suit in Delaware and registered a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission seeking a ban on importing iPads and iPhones to the U.S.
Just a couple of weeks back, Apple settled a patent infringement suit with Nokia that had spanned two years. Though full details of the settlement were not disclosed, Nokia said in a statement that the financial structure of the agreement consisted of a one-time payment payable by Apple and on-going royalties to be paid by Apple to Nokia for the term of the agreement.

"in London's High Court in London"
Thanks for the clarification.
Seriously for a second, I can see both companies getting into an ugly patents war. The thing is, I'm not sure Samsung would've bothered had Apple not fired the first shot.
Does anyone know the extent to which the UK courts can/will consider the validity of the underlying patents (under US law I presume) as well as whether they've been infringed?
