Amazon UK Kicks Thanksgiving Off Early with Special Sales
Black Friday is a week-long affair over at Amazon.
Just because your cousins across the pond will be overindulging from Thursday through to next Sunday, that doesn't mean you have to miss out on all the Thanksgiving action. Sure, there might not be any turkey, or cranberry sauce, or sweet potato and marshmallow casserole (seriously), but you can at least take part in a little Black Friday shopping to help ease the pain.
Amazon UK is kicking off its Black Friday sale today, with deals lasting through until Friday, November 25. This includes 'Deals of the Week' as well as the more fleeting 'Lightning Deals.' Lightning Deals will change frequently and only last for a certain amount of time. There's also only a certain number of the product available for the sale price. If all available units have been grabbed by customers, you'll see a little 'Wishlist' button instead of an 'Add to Basket' button. This means all units have been added to baskets but not all have been checked out. Joining the waiting list means you'll be able to grab the item if someone decides to delete it from their basket or takes longer than 15 minutes to check out.
Have a gander at the the Black Friday page to see the deals. You'll also notice that the page displays upcoming deals as well as current Lightning Deals so you can plan your purchases ahead of time.

These "Lightening Deals" you mention - what exactly do they lighten...?

Shoot.. And I actually thought to myself, "Make sure you check that when you're done, it doesn't look right." Thanks!
We don't have a 'Thanksgiving' in the UK. It would be nice if a UK site could be written towards a UK audience

This article was written solely for a UK audience and does not even appear on the US website (because it only applies to those in the United Kingdom/ordering from Amazon.co.uk).
Case in point:
Just because your cousins across the pond will be overindulging from Thursday through to next Sunday, that doesn't mean you have to miss out on all the Thanksgiving action. Sure, there might not be any turkey, or cranberry sauce, or sweet potato and marshmallow casserole (seriously), but you can at least take part in a little Black Friday shopping to help ease the pain.
Very clear mention of the fact that there is no Thanksgiving in the UK and it is a U.S. holiday.
Wrong continent Amazon, fail... but I'll let you off seeing as this "Black Friday" you speak of is my birthday and therefore a good time for me to be buying cheap things!
I don't care why they are having a sale, but I do appreciate Tom's telling me that they are.
It's also good to see some Uk news - not just this one, but generally over the past few months. Thanks and keep it up Jane.

You're welcome and thank you for noticing! It's nice to be appreciated.
