Activision and Blizzard merge in $18bn deal
Game giants Activision and Blizzard have announced that they will merge to form what they are calling “the world’s most profitable games business”.
The deal worth $18bn will see Blizzard, Call of Duty, merge with Activision, the name behind Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk.
With World of Warcraft currently holding the top spot in multi-player online RPGs and Activision taking the market by storm with the Guitar Hero series, the $3bn the two companies are investing will no doubt be put to good use.
Activisioon Blizzard, as the new operation will be cleverly named, hope that by joining forces than can take advantage of each other’s strengths to become a stronger, wealthier company.

As I understood it, it's Activision and Vivendi merging. Vivendi will be the shareholder with 52%.
Blizzard Entertainment is owned by Vivendi, and after this merger it will be owned by this new company "Activision Blizzard".
Blizzard Entertainment will still stay Blizzard Entertainment.
Confusing name for the parent company, but there it is.
