Acer's New 120Hz LCD Ready for Nvidia 3D Vision
Acer's new LCD panel is ready for Nvidia's 3D Vision active-shutter glasses.
Acer announced on Tuesday that its GD235HZ LCD display is ready for Nvidia's 3D Vision system. Sporting a tasty 120 Hz refresh rate, the 23.6-inch display will attempt to bring a new level of PC gaming to your rig.
For the uninitiated, Nvidia's 3D Vision system includes active-shutter glasses, a wireless USB transmitter, and software that transforms "hundreds" of games into a 3D experience.
"We see a strong market for 3D technology products that offer the quality and value that Acer is known for providing, as we’ve demonstrated with our Acer notebook with 3D technology and now with this new Acer GD235HZ display," said Irene Chan, senior product marketing manager for peripherals, Acer America.
Available this month for $399.99, Acer's GD235HZ LCD offers a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 and an aspect ratio of 16:9. The LCD also offers a 80,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, a 1000:1 native contrast ratio, a pixel pitch of 0.2715mm, and a response time of 2ms (G to G). The LCD also provides one HDMI input (w/HDMI), one DVI input, and one VGA input.
PC gamers wanting a little 3D action from Nvidia can purchase the 3D Vision Kit for an additional $199 via online retail outlets such as Newegg and more. Currently Acer's LCD panel hasn't shown up online, but stay tuned.

Oh sonofabitch, I just bought the Viewsonic VX2265wm 120hz monitor. I knew this was on the horizon, but didn't anticipate it so soon. The big thing about this monitor, and others like it (besides the 3D gimmick) is it ACCEPTS a true 120hz signal from your computer. Unlike the "120Hz" HDTVs that only accept 60hz and internally upgrade the signal, this is a full-fledged monitor just like those good ol' CRTs your used to playing FPSs on. That means no V-Sync issues with input lag, etc! FPS gamers should rejoice at this.
