Kapow! ATI Radeon 5870 Card Has 2 GB, 10 Ports
Imagine a PCI-e card that can output gaming goodness on 6 displays! Kapow!
After moving into a new office and watching interference slowly wave up and down the two LCD monitors (wasn't there before), the first thing that came to mind was, "man there needs to be a new graphics card in this rig." As if reading those very thoughts, Softpedia prints up an article featuring an ATI Radeon HD 5870 graphics card with 2 GB of GDDR5 memory and... get this... 6 DisplayPort ports!
Yep, that's right. Consumers can hook up six DisplayPort displays, making one heck of a desktop that could fill an entire wall thanks to the company's ATI Eyefinity technology. Apparently, the card uses the same dual-slot cooling solution as the reference HD 5870 model too, with the six display ports mounted just under the card's cooler exhaust. We don't know at this point whether all 10 outputs can be used at the same time.
Softpedia also reports that the new model has acquired an 8-pin and 6-pin PCI-e power connector setup. It also sports 1,600 Stream processors as seen with the HD 5870, however the GPU and memory clock speeds have been altered to 850 MHz and 4,8000 MHz, respectively.
Unfortunately, as of this writing, the new model isn't exactly official, nor is there any mention of availability or pricing. We're crossing our fingers that it ships soon, just in time for the long hours of PC gaming during the holidays. Like Gollum says in the LOTR trilogy, we's wants its, my precious.

If only Displayport equipped monitors are cheap enough for us to buy in bundles..*sigh*
Looking at the two images available, I'd say that the card has 6 display ports *only*. The image of the card on its own seems to support this, and the other image appears to be comparing the outputs of the current designs and the new, 6 port model. There doesn't seem to physically be enough room for 10 ports *and* exhaust on a 2-slot card
We've known that these 6 port versions were coming since the original eyefinity demo, so this design shouldn't really come as a surprise.
On the plus side, get 4 of them and have 24 screens...

Yeah, where have they pluck this 10 from? That is surely 2 cards...
Can you get an adaptor to convert display port connections to dvi??
^^ The display ports connect to the main card with a cable but still bolt on to the back plate of your PC - hence they are showing 6 Display Ports, 2 DVIs, 1 HDMI & 1 VGA making the 10 total.

Why would the expansion bracket be 2 slot with exhaust vents? Also, the image of the card itself (and Softpedia's article) would indicate 6 ports, not 10.
A quick google of the card shows the 2 DVI, HDMI and VGA. At a guess they have made an Eyefinity version which has the 6 ports as pictured.
If you boys would care to read the article more closely, you'll notice it never claims there are 10 DisplayPort ports, but rather specifically says there are 6 DisplayPort ports, making up 10 ports (i.e. not entirely comprised of DisplayPort ones) in total.
And no, mi1ez; that is one card, not two.
Malphas if you would care to read the comments more closely, you'll notice that no one actually claims there are 10 DisplayPorts. They say that there can't be 10 outputs as there isn't enough room.
No, they aren't devilxc. Also, you can clearly see the card has 10 outputs anyway.
