AMD said two Cray supercomputers using Opterons lead the market on HPC Challenge benchmarketing tests.
The Cray XT3 and Cray XD1 have the best scores in seven of the 10 condensed results, claimed AMD, when comparing a 1,100 CPU XT3 with a 1,008 CPU SGI Altix 3700 and a 1,024 CPU Blue Gene system.
