Attorney General demands a more user-friendly Facebook

by - source: Tom's Hardware UK

Social networking site, Facebook, has agreed to become more tweeny-friendly after a run in with New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo.

The legal supremo issued a subpoena to the site after sneaky investigators posing as young teenagers reportedly received sexual advances from older facebookers in less than a week of being on the site. Investigators reported that the website did nothing to reassure “concerned parents” of younger users and when they contacted the site, it was either slow to respond or failed to respond at all.

The two year agreement means that Facebook must respond to all complaints with in a day of receiving them and act on them within 3 days. They must also bring in a third party to examine the complaints to make sure everything remains up to scratch and that they are abiding by the agreement.

The statement issued by the AG also insisted that Facebook make the new arrangement clear on their website and that they start an independent email specifically for users to report nudity, pornography, abuse, harassment or any kind of unwelcome contact.
