865 chipsets to account for 15% of Intel's 2Q shipments, mobo makers say
Surprisingly enough, Intel's new i865 series of chipsets will only account for 15% of Intel's second quarter shipments, largely due to the fact that the much cheaper i845 series is still selling like hot cakes. "Motherboard manufacturers said that except for the 865P, Intel's 865G and 865PE chipsets no doubt will be the next-generation mainstream products as they support a 800MHz FSB (front-side bus) and dual-channel DDR400. However, considering that shipments of 865 motherboards only started in late May and current market demand is not strong"
