Nintendo boss says 45 Wii games headed this summer

Tokyo (Japan) - At a press conference in Tokyo, Nintendo worldwide president Satoru Iwata said that an additional 45 Wii games currently in production will be available for consumers during the second quarter of 2007.

Nintendo’s momentum with Wii has slowed down a little bit because of a recent drought in new titles. The console’s library currently stands at about 44 games.

This summer will also open up the Wii’s online gaming platform for the first time, with Pokemon Battle Revolution and Mario Strikers Charged.

The Wii continues to dominate monthly sales figures among the three next-gen consoles. Nintendo also said it is working on ramping up production, as retailers still rarely have any units actually sitting on their shelves.
