3DO unleashes Requiem: Avenging Angel

by - source: Tom's Hardware

The 3DO Co. announced that its PC game, Requiem: Avenging Angel, has shipped to retailers nationwide.

Requiem: Avenging Angel is the first game to achieve 1920-by-1280 resolution at 30 frames per second - and be fully playable, according to 3DO officials.

The first-person 3D action shooter pits Heaven's Chosen Soldiers against Hell's Fallen Demons, invoking heavenly devastation on the PC screen. The game utilizes 3DO's proprietary 3D Requiem Engine to provide optimization for Windows 95 and custom support for the 3dfx Voodoo2 and Voodoo3 chipsets and boards, along with NVIDIA's RIVA TNT and TNT2 3D processors.

"Advanced gamers with souped-up gaming systems will relish the graphic capabilities of the game, but casual gamers will also be delighted with the brilliant graphics on their standard PC, even without a 3D accelerator card," said Trip Hawkins, chairman and CEO of 3DO.

The game achieved its 1920-by-1280 resolution at 30 frames-per-second running on Creative Labs' newest 3D graphics accelerator card, powered by NVIDIA's RIVA TNT2 3D processor.
