3dfx files to merge with STB
Two powerhouses of the PC graphics world are a step closer to the alter.
The Securities and Exchange Commission has approved a filing by 3dfx Interactive Inc. to merge with STB Systems Inc.
3dfx Interactive develops 3D media processors and software for interactive electronic entertainment platforms, such as the Voodoo family of accelerator chip sets for the PC. STB Systems produces multimedia accelerators for use in primarily desktop PCs.
The merger remains subject to approval by the shareholders of both companies. A special shareholder meeting to consider and vote on the merger is scheduled for Friday, April 30, 1999.
