3V Launch Music Store Powered by 7Digital
Irish online voucher payment company, 3V has joined forces with iTunes competitor 7Digital to enable people to buy songs from site without having to use their credit or debit cards.
The 3V card is a prepaid card that is topped up in participating PayZone shops and then used the same as a debit or credit card. The company is run in co-operation with VISA and Permanent TSB. Cards can be used for making payments at any site that displays the VISA logo.
The music that the 100,000 3V card owners can access is DRM free, which means that it is not restricted to a certain brand of MP3 player and can be copied multiple times.
Ben Drury, Managing Director at 7Digital, said that with the majority of consumers now choosing to purchase their media online it is important that the industry doesn’t forget about people who don’t have credit cards and therefore don’t have the ability to purchase online.
“7digital’s partnership with 3V means that consumers who don’t have a credit or debit card can also enjoy the benefits of online shopping and have instant access to the best music and video available,” he said.
