Raptor or Raptor? If you decide to get the fastest Serial ATA hard drive model with 10,000 RPM, you only have to make up your mind if you want 74 GB or 150 GB. According to our hard drive charts, you can see that the smaller version is slightly faster due to its simpler geometry: it uses two storage platters instead of four.

The high price isn't the Raptor's only drawback. The high rotation speed causes a pretty high operating temperature, and doesn't make for a quiet drive either. Nonetheless, the Raptor offers a great price/performance ratio, especially the access time and the continuous data transfer rates, which are still first class.
