The GSA-4160B is the successor to the GSA-4120B. It has the same specifications, but with 16x DVD+R writing instead of 12x. Developed by the HL (Hitachi-LG) Data Storage joint venture, it's the only model in this review that can also write and read DVD-RAM, enabling it alone to claim true compatibility with all existing DVD formats for both reading and writing. DVD-RAM is fairly widely used in Japan, especially for digital video recorders.
