SVG Lithography's inability to deliver its Micrascan V 193-nm wavelength lithography system on schedule may impact the launch date of Intel Corp.'s forthcoming Pentium 4 Northwood and 1.26 GHz Tualatin Pentium III chips. According to Jack Robertson of EB News, the four-month delay in shipments of the processing equipment is a serious blow to Intel. The firm needs the 0.13-micron process to reduce by half the 21 mm square size of the Pentium 4, thus cutting costs and allowing the competitive pricing of the Pentium 4 Northwood processor.
