Analog Devices let us know that it's now sampling its new ADSP-21535 16-bit Blackfin DSP, which makes use of the Micro Signal Architecture ADI jointly developed with Intel. The ADSP-21535 includes Dynamic Power Management and delivers 600 MMACS (million multiply accumulate operations per second) at 300MHz, which ADI figures could be handy for telecommunications apps and a range of Internet appliances like video telephones, gaming devices, web terminals, NetTVs and smart handheld devices. The company also announced a $10 version of its Blackfin DSP. The ADSP-21532 delivers 300MHz of performance and extends Dynamic Power Management by integrating on-chip voltage regulation. The ADSP-21532 also includes audio (I2S) and video (CCIR-656) interfaces. Programmable in C and C++, Blackfin DSPs execute both signal processing and control code. They're supported by CROSSCORE, Analog Devices' DSP software and hardware development tools. The VisualDSP++ IDE gives you a compiler, cycle-accurate simulator, debugger, and statistical code profiling tool. Evaluation and emulation systems are available for hardware development as we speak. Two speed versions of the ADSP-21535 are available now. The ADSP-21535PKB-300 operates at 300MHz (600 MMACs) and is priced at $34 in quantities of 10,000 units. The ADSP-21535PKB-200 operates at 200MHz (400 MMACs) and is priced at $27 in quantities of 10,000 units. The ADSP-21532 operates at 300 MHz, integrates 640 kbits of on-chip SRAM, and will be packaged in a 160-lead MBGA package. It's priced at $9.95 in quantities of 10,000 units with samples available mid 2002.
